Given the success of Paddington in 2014 and the anticipation for this year's sequel, we suppose another attempt to use the titular marmalade-loving bear was inevitable. And backers StudioCanal are looking to TV this time, commissioning a series of 11-minute episodes based on Michael Bond's stories.

It is, of course, far from the first time that Paddington has journeyed to TV, we were asked to please look after this bear between 1976 and 1987 in the UK for the stop-motion version narrated by Michael Hordern, And there was an attempt by Hanna-Barbera to create a more traditionally animated version that ran for one season.

The shape of the new show has yet to be revealed, so we don't know if it'll follow the same narrated format or whether any of the film's cast – particularly Ben Whishaw as Paddington – will led their voices, though it'll somewhat naturally be aimed at younger fans. And StudioCanal is looking to find a network to carry the series.

Paddington 2 is headed to UK cinemas on 10 November, while US audiences will have to wait until 12 January.
