To those in the US, he’s better known as Waldo. But whatever you call him, the man in the red and white-striped jersey and bobble hat is still best known for Martin Handford’s long-running book series, which features huge crowd scenes. The object of the book? To find Wally in the scrum, of course! Back in 2009, Despicable Me** creators Illumination Entertainment nabbed the rights to the books. But after a couple of years of little development, he’s now in residence at MGM.

Along with our partners at Classic Media, we look forward to making a worldwide adventure that will appeal to Where’s Waldo? fans of all ages,” blabs MGM’s Jonathan Glickman. There are no writers or directors attached yet, though we bet both Ryan Gosling and James Franco will be rumoured to take the lead. Or not…
