The team behind the Batman-focused Lego Movie spin-off have been making some interesting and fun casting choices for the voices so far, with Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson and Ralph Fiennes all aboard alongside Will Arnett. Now comes one from slightly further afield, as Mariah Carey has entered talks to join The Lego Batman Movie{ =nofollow}.

Despite an earlier report from Deadline saying she was eyeing the role of Comissioner Gordon, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that she'll actually be Gotham City's Mayor.

Lego Movie editor/animation supervisor Chris McKay is stepping up to direct this one, with Seth Grahame-Smith providing the script. It’s reportedly drawing from all eras of Batman’s screen and comic existence as Arnett returns to the role of the Dark Knight alongside Cera’s Robin, Dawson’s Batgirl and Fiennes’ Alfred. Zach Galifianakis is also likely to make a deal, if he hasn’t already, to play The Joker. The film will be gracing us with its darkness and parent-free nature on February 10, 2017.

As for Carey, she’s won plaudits for her roles in Lee Daniels’ The Butler and Precious and is directing a Hallmark TV movie called A Christmas Melody.
