We reported at the end of last year that Luc Besson's Europacorp was looking to bring the **Transporter **franchise to the small screen. And now we have our new Frank, with Chris Vance taking over Jason Statham's signature role as the wheelman who never changes the deal and never breaks a promise.

The British Vance made his start in the likes of The Bill and Peak Practice, but in recent years has decamped to the states and made an impact in series like Prison Break, Dexter and Burn Notice. Joining him as the Transporter series' other main regular will be Hungarian former-model Andrea Osvart, as Frank's CIA handler Carla. Deadline describe Carla as "extremely crafty", so we're assuming that Frank remains freelance and his CIA employment is shady and covert and off-the-record.

The Cinemax series will initially run for twelve episodes and boast the same stunt team as the three films, so while the budget is modest - those dozen episodes will cost about the same as a single movie - the action should stay inventive.

A package-of-the-week, or a 24-like single mission per season? And will Vance be breaking out the hair clippers? All will be revealed next year. Shooting takes place over the summer.
