The battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons continued to dominate the box office across the pond this weekend as Transformers: Dark of the Moon easily held on to the top spot, adding $47 million to a current US total of $261 million.

But the new laugh-fest Horrible Bosses enjoyed a solid, strong opening, arriving with $28 million, a figure enough to beat out Kevin James’ latest family comedy Zookeeper, which launched in third with $21 million. The new arrivals meant that Cars 2 slipped down to fourth with $15.2 million, with Pixar’s latest currently sitting at $148.8 million after four weeks on release. **Bad Teacher **rounded out the top five with $9 million.

Larry Crowne slipped down two places, adding $6.2 million to a somewhat disappointing $26.5 million total, while Super 8 was seventh with $4.8 million. Teen rom-com Monte Carlo fell to eighth, making $3.8 million, while Green Lantern was down to ninth and $3.1 million. At 10th, we find Mr Popper’s Penguins, with the Jim Carrey comedy adding $2.8 million for a $57.7 million running – or should that be waddling? – total.
