Vampires ahoy for Hilary

Swank Goes To Fangland

Hilary Swank is one tough lady. Not only can she knock out practically every opponent she meets with a single punch, as we saw in Million Dollar Baby, and build an entire house just out of her many Oscars (well, two, but stick with us here), but she's also up for facing the undead, with the news that she's set to star in an adaptation of Fangland.

The book, by John Marks (a former 60 Minutes producer, so see if you can spot the semi-autobiographical bit coming up...), is a re-working of the Dracula story, wherein a TV producer (Swank) travels to Romania to interview an arms dealer - only to learn that he is one of de Chiiiiillll-dran av de Niiiiight (sorry, couldn't hold back the fake accent any longer). In fact, he's ol' Vlad Dracul himself.

A first draft of the script has already been turned in (pre-strike) by Mark "The Messengers" Wheaton, but there's no director or other cast attached yet.

So do we need another vampire movie? And is this the one to do? (How about Dan Simmons' Children of the Night?)
