With his latest directing job, the remake of About Last Night, now chuntering through the post-production process, Steve Pink is considering his future options. He’s still developing the Bad Santa sequel but now Relativity Media has given the go-ahead for another comedy, Contractors.

Set in the swanky holiday home district of the Hamptons, the film will see two underachieving builders hired to work on a dream house for a millionaire and his girlfriend.

There’s just one little wrinkle: the woman used to date one of the builders, and there may yet still be a flicker of feelings there.

It could easily turn into a dodgy, Adam Sandler-level yuck fest, but Pink’s presence gives us a little more hope. Relativity bought the script as a spec from Bob Fisher and David Hemingson back in 2007. But it has lingered in development limbo ever since, despite the attachment of Old Dogs director Walt Becker. Now Pink has re-written the script and will likely direct the film. But he’s also got several other projects bubbling away, including the aforementioned Santa pic and corporate comedy Company.
