Sly Cooper To Get A Movie Adaptation In 2016

Late last year, we learnt that Sony stalwarts Ratchet & Clank** were getting a movie, due out in 2015. Now news has arrived that fellow Playstation 2 name Sly Cooper - and his buddies Bentley the brainy turtle and Murray the beefy hippopotamus - are also getting a movie (due out in 2016). Hooray for your childhood! Hooray for the next couple of minutes, as you watch the teaser trailer!

Made by the same people behind the **Ratchet & Clank **project, Rainmaker and Blockade Entertainment, the film is written and directed by Kevin Monroe, who previously brought us the similarly nostalgia-flavoured **TMNT **back in 2007.

This trailer was announced on the film's Facebook page, accompanied by a joyfully silly synopsis, which we've put below:

*"Sly Cooper is a kinetic and comedic heist film that tells the story of Sly Cooper, an orphaned raccoon thief, along with his childhood friends and partners in crime, Bentley Turtle and Murray Hippo. In the film, Sly learns of his birth family's secret legacy; that he comes from a long line of talented and international thieves."

*"Endowed with this knowledge, Sly and his friends are catapulted into a global adventure as they race to reassemble pieces of an ancient book holding The Cooper Clan's family secrets before it can fall into the hands of Clockwerk – an evil Russian metallic owl bent on ending the Cooper family line. From romantic Parisian backdrops to the lush mountains of China, gritty film noir meets bright, colorful graphic novels in this origin story of the world's greatest thief-turned-hero." *

An evil Russian metallic owl? Called Clockwerk? Sign us up, and don't skimp on the doughnuts. Between this and Guardians Of The Galaxy, raccoons are so hot right now. Sly Cooper will land in cinemas at some point in 2016, with more details about the film over here.
