In the wake of his recent strangeness, Shia LaBeouf had made the hasty promise to retire. It seems that may have been yet another part of his weird, real-life performance-art project, however, since he's now reneged on that deal and signed up for Barry Levinson's **Rock The Kasbah{
Mitch Glazer (writer of Scrooged and producer of Lost In Translation), penned the screenplay, which involves Murray as a burned-out music manager who heads to Afghanistan on a USO tour with his one remaining client.
Through a series of unfortunate events, he ends up abandoned, cash-strapped and without his passport, but then stumbles upon a young girl with an amazing voice who he figures could make it big. He manages to smuggle her back to Kabul so she can compete in The Afghan Star, that country’s version of X Factor.
All roles apart from Murray's are so far unclear, but since LaBeouf has recently repeatedly insisted that he is not famous anymore, perhaps Murray's lone, washed-up client is the perfect fit. Expect more details before shooting starts in June.
We'll next see LaBeouf in Nymphomaniac on February 22, and Murray in The Monuments Men on February 14.
