Given the reception and, now,the box office success of Skyfall,it’s not entirely shocking that director Sam Mendes and writer John Logan might want to collaborate again. But before visions of them making more Bond films dance in your noggin, hold fire. They’re teaming up to pitch a TV series about a vampire hunter.

The original tale borrows from fictional characters, with the likes of Van Helsing and Doctor Frankenstein joining forces to track down the undead. They’ll be roaming 1880s London looking for the bloodsuckers.

From the sounds of it, this could be a more successful take on literary characters fighting evil than the film of League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, though it’ll have to go some to compete with the original Alan Moore comics.

But before the project can happen at all, it has to find a home, with the pair approaching various premium cable networks such as HBO and Showtime in the US. We'd assume that, given their respective film careers, they'll launch the show and give notes a la JJ Abrams or Steven Spielberg, but hand the day-to-day duties over to an experienced telly hand. In any case, we'll be keeping an eye out for this going forward.
