Empire loves Isla Fisher (congrats on the baby by the way, Mrs. Borat!). That may have something to do with fancying the pants off her while growing up watching Home & Away, but it may also be because she’s gorgeous and a naturally talented movie comedienne, who’s been serving up strong stuff for a while now in the likes of Wedding Crashers and last year’s most under-rated comedy, Hot Rod.

So we were delighted when she bagged what is essentially her first lead role in the forthcoming romantic comedy, Confessions Of A Shopaholic. Don’t worry, this isn’t a continuation of the old Robin Askwith franchise, so don’t expect to see Fisher 'nipping round' to 'some old bird’s gaff' and 'giving her a good seeing-to' while her husband’s 'out and about'.

Instead, this is a PJ Hogan (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Muriel’s Wedding, Peter Pan’s Wedding) film, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and as such is a blockbuster-in-waiting. And today, it got two brand new cast members in the shape of Krysten Ritter and our very own Hugh Dancy.

Ritter, soon to be seen in the upcoming Katherine Heigl rom-com, 27 Dresses, will play the best friend of Fisher’s character, who’s a Manhattan shopaholic up to her eyeballs in debt who, inexplicably, becomes a financial advisor on a top magazine.

Dancy – who’s rather muddied some of that Next Big Thing vibe that he received from his turn in King Arthur by cropping up in the likes of Basic Instinct 2 and Blood & Chocolate – will play the editor of the magazine where Fisher works. And, while we haven’t read the popular Sophie Kinsella novels upon which the film is based, we’re going to go ahead and guess that Dancy and Fisher will be locking lips by movie’s end.

Filming starts next month in New York and Connecticut.
