Prometheus Sequel Has A Writer
Transcendence's Jack Paglen scores the gig
While the reaction to Prometheus might not have been everything Fox and director Ridley Scott hoped, the box office results were enough to at least trigger discussions about a sequel. Back in August last year, it was reported that Scott and the studio were taking meetings with writers and now Jack Paglen has emerged as the man to start work.
We have to assume it’ll follow directly on from the original, which left Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender’s calculating android David looking for more answers. The explicit details are known only to the producers and Paglen for now.
In case you’re wondering who he is, Paglen graduated from writing shorts to scripting artificial intelligence tale Transcendence, which Chris Nolan’s regular cinematographer Wally Pfister has chosen as his directorial debut and is filming now with Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murphy, Paul Bettany and more.
Transcendence is set for release – across the pond, at least – on April 18 next year. When we’re likely to see the next Prometheus is anyone’s guess, and whether Scott will be back as a director is even more of a mystery for now. Mr Paglen, no pressure, but it looks like everything depends on your script.
