Poster For Spielberg's Lincoln Arrives

Two weeks ago the world saw the first official still from Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, and today the first official poster has arrived, showing Daniel Day-Lewis in a rather monochrome mood.

Still no sign of his signature stovepipe hat just yet, but the use of black and white really brings out how Day-Lewis is inhabiting the role, from the whiskers on his cheeks to the worried look in his eye.

Also, no tagline on this particular poster, meaning that we'll have to wait a little longer to see if "Emancipate this" will ever see the light of day.

Just in case you didn't know already, the film itself is an adaptation of historian Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book, Team of Rivals, concentrating on the final four months of the 16th US president's life, where he was at the end of the Civil War and on the point of outlawing slavery for good.

The United Kingdom will only be able to see Lincoln on January 25, 2013, whereas the United States will see it in all its glory come November 16.
