The Pitch Perfect franchise has given Elizabeth Banks the chance to become a director and now the writer behind all of the films so far is following her, albeit with an a capella-free movie. Kay Cannon will direct The Pact{ =nofollow}.

Cannon is making her directorial debut with the comedy, which follows what happens when three parents learn their daughters have all sworn to lose their virginities on prom night and decide that they have to stop them before it’s too late. So… less helicopter parenting and more full ground assault with tanks.

The script comes from a combination of Harold & Kumar duo Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg and sibling writers Brian and Jim Kehoe, with Eben Russell currently giving it polish. We’d wager that, given her writing background, Cannon will be heavily involved in the new draft.

Along with her work on the Pitch films, Cannon has written for 30 Rock and was an executive producer on New Girl. She’s currently busy finishing the third Pitch Perfect entry, which Banks will direct for a 2017 release.
