Apparently having had his full of hanging around with dead people, Swiss Army Man star Paul Dano looks to be taking on an assassin in the currently-in-development The Engishman.

The film, to be directed by Edward Berger (Deutschland ‘83), is based on a spec script by Luke Garrett, and set at some point during the forty year history of East Germany’s Ministry For State Security, more commonly known as the Stasi. Dano’s character is reportedly a young officer within that intelligence agency — which existed from 1950-1990 — who has an opportunity to move up in rank if he is able to determine the identity of an assassin dubbed The Englishman. The challenge (c'mon, these things always have a challenge) is that his real identity isn’t even known to those who hire him.

The Stasi had previously been explored in 2006’s critically acclaimed The Lives Of Others.

Dano will be in cinemas next year in the South Korean-American film Okja, which is directed by Snowpiercer’s Bong Joon-Ho.
