He’s just been officially confirmed for more horror in the Conjuring sequel, but Patrick Wilson appears ready for something much more terrifying: the business end of Edgar Wright’s megaphone. From the sounds of it, Wilson will be just fine, as he’s negotiating for a role in **Ant-Man.
Wright, working from the script he co-wrote with Joe Cornish, already has Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas aboard as Scott Lang and Hank Pym, the two men to wear the Ant-Man suit. It all kicks off when Pym discovers particles that let him shrink to insect size and control the small creatures. Lang, a reformed thief who initially thinks that the technology could be used for dodgier means, ends up being more of a hero.
Wilson’s role hasn’t been released and Marvel is naturally staying schtum about it. But it appears he’s close to signing on, marking his first stab at the superhero genre since Watchmen. Michael Pena is similarly in talks and** The Hobbit**’s Evangeline Lily is reportedly um-ing and ah-ing about taking the female lead, which would involve the standard Marvel multi-film contract.
With the Conjuring follow-up in his future, Wilson is also attached to The Man On Carrion Road and Caught Stealing. The busy actor has worked on Zipper, Space Station 76, **North Of Hell **and Joie Carnahan’s Stretch, which are all awaiting release dates.
