You might think that Disney would have enough of its own fairy tale back catalogue to draw from, given how it has been on an adaptation spree with its animated canon. Yet the Mouse House, looking for more content to fill its Disney+ streaming service, has an original fairy tale movie in the works, to star Olivia Cooke and LaKeith Stanfield.
Disney picked up writer Cat Vasko's untitled script, and has To All The Boys I've Loved Before's Susan Johnson on to direct it. As of yet, there are no plot details available, so we'll have to guess whether this one hews close to the fairy tale format or does something new with the genre.
The movie – whatever it ends up being called – is a live-action story, and is likely to hit Disney+ next year.
Cooke has crime drama Naked Singularity due next year and indie drama Sound Of Metal awaiting a release date. Stanfield, meanwhile, will be seen in Rian Johnson's Knives Out (arriving 29 November) and the Safdie brothers' latest, Uncut Gems.
