With the various torments of development hell (numerous script drafts, switching studios etc.) now behind it, the horror film based on Hasbro’s Ouija appears ready to start scaring real, live people. Percy Jackson**’s Douglas Smith is already aboard and Olivia Cooke is now signed up{ =nofollow}.

The Possession's writing team of Juliet Snowden and Stiles White have worked on the most recent draft of the script, with White stepping into the director’s chair for the film.

Ouija will find a group of friends who discover that one of their classmates – who had been messing around with one of the spirit-talking boards – has died recently. So what do they do, against all reason and sanity? Start trying to use the thing to contact the girl! Naturally, things go horrifically wrong.

Cooke, who most recently appeared on TV’s Bates Motel, is set as the dead girl’s friend, while Smith with be the deceased’s former boyfriend, who may just know more about the circumstances than he’s letting on. Low budget horror-producing expert Jason Blum is aboard this one, working alongside Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes team to get it made. White will start shooting in LA this week.
