Oldman Joins Washington For Book Of Eli

Gary Oldman has signed on for what sounds suspiciously like bad guy duties in Denzel Washington's new film, The Book of Eli, a post-apocalyptic action thriller / Western directed by the Hughes brothers (From Hell*).

The plot sees Washington fight his way across a post-apocalyptic landscape in his eagerness to protect the titular tome, which contains the secret to mankind's redemption. En route, however, he comes into conflict with Oldman's small-town despot, who's determined to take possession of the book that Eli is guarding.

The film starts shooting in February in New Mexico, for a US release date of January 15, 2010. Let's hope that it turns out better than The Postman, eh?

*We're not saying that Allen and Albert, the brothers themselves, are from hell - we're sure they're delightful - just that they made a film of that name.
