Chalk up one more person joining Natalie Portman in the new film bout Jackie Kennedy. Greta Gerwig is the latest name added to **Jackie.

Jackie, which stars Portman as the title character, chronicles the four days in Kennedy’s life after the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy in Dallas in 1963. She’s dealing with losing the love of her life while a nation rallies around her in a time of tragedy. Gerwig is aboard to play one of her aides.

Darren Aronofsky had been developing the project to star then-partner Rachel Weisz back in 2010, but it fell into limbo when they split. Portman was mooted as the new Jackie in 2012, but it has taken a few years to come together. Aronofsky remains on board as producer, with No director Pablo Larraín now calling the shots. While the cast is still not quite together and a domestic distributor remains to be found, Larrain should be starting to shoot the film, which will also star Peter Sarsgaard, in the next couple of months.

Gerwig has Rebecca Miller’s new comedy Maggie’s Plan hitting US cinemas next May after a festival run, with Todd Solondz’ Wiener-Dog and Mike Mills’ 20th Century Woman also awaiting release.
