Michael Douglas Finds And So It Goes...

If The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and It’s Complicated showed anything, it’s that solid films aimed at older audiences can succeed at the box office. Which might be why Foresight Unlimited and director PJ Hogan are putting together So It Goes..., which boasts the drawing power of Michael Douglas, Diane Keaton and life-affirming lessons.

Mark Andrus, who wrote As Good As It Gets, is behind the script, which finds Douglas as a self-absorbed and eccentric estate agent. He’s happy to live his untethered life until his estranged son suddenly drops off a granddaughter he never knew existed.

Stunned by the revelation and unsure how to care for the child, he naturally drives to the nearest orphanage, boots her out of the car and… OK, OK, he decides to care for her, ropes in the help of loveable neighbour Keaton and becomes a better, less selfish person for it. Sorry… Should probably add Spoiler Alert there.

Still, with Douglas and Keaton attached and Hogan behind the camera, this could be fun. The producers – who include Rob Reiner – are going to be stumping for overseas buyers at the AFM starting in a couple of weeks and filming should start next spring.

Douglas is about to start work on comedy **Last Vegas **and will also play Ronald Reagan (against Christoph Waltz’s Mikhail Gorbachev) in Reykjavik. He’ll also be seen in Steven Soderbergh’s Behind The Candelabra. Keaton has The Big Wedding coming up on May 13 next year.
