Here’s a piece of casting news that is shocking in all ways but actually... Michael Caine has signed on to join the cast of Christopher Nolan’s **Interstellar, the sixth time that the actor and director have worked together.

Yes, given that he’s appeared in Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises already, Caine has become something of a lucky charm/recurring ensemble member for Nolan, so it’s hardly a shock to see him cropping up for Interstellar.

As for what he’ll be playing? That information remains locked in the Nolan secret strong box for now, alongside the likely roles for Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and recent potential addition Jessica Chastain.

Interstellar, which originated with Steven Spielberg and was first written by Jonah Nolan, apparently finds a team on a heroic journey of scientific discovery and will likely feature wormholes/time travel. Nolan the Elder rewrote the script in January to incorporate some original ideas of his own. The movie will shoot later this year for a November 2014 release.

Caine will next crop up in Now You See Me (due July 3) and has also joined the cast of psycho-thriller Eliza Graves.
