With the Nepal segment of its shoot now complete, Marvel’s latest has arrived in the UK to begin the bulk of production. And Doctor Strange has added Amy Landecker in an unannounced role.

Landecker, currently to be found on Amazon’s Transparent, joins Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen and Michael Stuhlbarg in the film, which has Jon Spaihts on script duty and Scott Derrickson calling the shots.

Cumberbatch is bringing to life the character originally conjured by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The mysterious Doctor started as a selfish New York surgeon (named Stephen Strange) who loses his professional skills in a car crash. After falling on hard times, he visits a mysterious healer known as The Ancient One (Swinton), and learns to tap into psychic and magical powers. In recognition of his selfless efforts to thwart malcontent fellow disciple Baron Mordo (Ejiofor), he’s taught the mystical arts and sets out to defeat other shady sorcerers and various villains.

Derrickson is working at Longcross Film Studios, which was also home to Guardians Of The Galaxy (though that film’s sequel is setting up an Atlanta shoot). In addition to Transparent, Landecker has several films on the way, including action thriller Hunter’s Prayer and indie pic MF.

Doctor Strange will be out here on October 28, 2016.
