Eddie Redmayne has already been announced as the Early Man in Aardman Animations' next film, but now we've know who will be his Early Woman counterpart: Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams has signed up to voice a role.

Williams will take a brief break from her many-faced Westeros exploits for the Bristol studio's latest effort, which sees Wallace And Gromit creator Nick Park return to the director's chair. Williams will voice Goona, a "gallant and inomitable rebel who befriends the film’s hero Dug (Redmayne), and helps steer him through the clash of the Stone Age and Bronze Age civilisations", according to Aardman. Williams describes herself as "a huge Aardman fan – having the chance to work with Nick Park is a dream come true".

Tom Hiddleston is also part of the cast, as Lord Nooth. The film is set at the dawn of time, pitching hairy cavemen against wooly mammoths and dinosaurs. Expect lovingly-crafted stop-motion claymation and a rigorously English sense of humour, as we have come to expect from Aardman.

Early Man arrives in cinemas on January 26, 2018, with no US release date announced as of yet.
