Fresh from strapping on Johnny Cash’s guitar in Walk The Line, Joaquin Phoenix is teaming up with old mate James Gray – who worked with him on The Yards – for We Own The Night.
Gray has written and will direct the crime story set against the turbulent world of Russian organised crime mobs and a beaten-down NYPD police force in the mid-‘80s. A Russian drugs gang is targeting policemen and it’s up to Joseph, a nightclub owner, to save his brother and father, who are next on the list.
Eva Mendes and Robert Duvall have also signed up to star, with filming set to start next month.
