Forget Megatron, he’s yesterday’s robo-news. For Transformers 4, Michael Bay plans to have a giant version of Sideshow Bob smashing through American cities, threatening the Autobots and discovering that his one weakness is a massive rake. That, or Bay has just hired Kelsey Grammer to play a scheming human in the movie.

It’s an unusual move for Grammer, who doesn’t usually tend towards blockbuster fare (aside from playing Beast in X-Men: The Last Stand), but he appears to be ready to tackle something huge.

Having spent some time playing a Machiavellian Chicago mayor in underrated US cable show Boss, he’s now set to be Harold Attinger, a counter intelligence type who may well be involved with the plan to use Cybertronian technology as weapons research for mankind. Which, of course, attracts the attention of an even more powerful and dangerous robo-warrior and will require Optimus Prime and co to return and save us all.

Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Jack Reynor and Nicola Pelz are aboard the film, which kicks off shooting in June and will smash into our cinemas on June 27 next year.
