Alongside the usual presentations from companies such as Warner Bros. and Sony at this Year's San Diego Comic-Con, there was some good news for Judge Dredd fans about the new planned TV series based on the character. Comic book writer Rob Williams is the man in charge of the pilot script.

Williams, who has been writing for 2000AD and specifically Dredd for years (in addition to work on other titles such as DC's Suicide Squad), has completed the pilot and has also been oveeseeing creative development for the series, mapping out the first two years of narrative.

The concept for the series, announced last year, will not focus on Dredd directly, but will be an ensemble story set in the sprawling futuristic metropolis where Dredd and his colleagues dish out rough justice.

"It’s been really exciting to be working with Rob on the pilot," says series producer Brian Jenkins. "We have a really talented team here at Rebellion Productions and I’m really proud of them. Jason and I have been busy looking at locations and laying out season one as we gear up, to move forward into pre-production."

No details of when and where the show might air have been announced yet, but at least we know the creative side is in safe hands.
