Oldham was the police officer who tracked the two men and brought them to justice in a controversial trial. It all has the flavour of a real-life take on The Departed.

Bill Dubuque adapted the book for Warner Bros. and Padilha is in talks to direct. It feels like the right blend of director and material, particularly given Padilha's work on the Elite Squad movies.

RoboCop, meanwhile, will hit our screens on February 7 next year. Padilha is also attached to action drama **Tri-Border **and drug dealing thriller Marching Powder, so we'll have to wait and see where this fits into his schedule.
