John Stockwell To Direct Sanctuary

John Stockwell, who shall forever have a place in Empire’s heart for directing Into The Blue (with hall of fame quote, “Shut up, you coke whore!”), must have got a taste for directing horror films with his last flick, Turistas.*

For he’s signed on to direct Sanctuary, a frightflick based on the novel, Bad Men, by John Connolly. Stephen Susco wrote the script, in which a mysterious woman takes refuge on a haunted island just off the Maine coast.

Of course, Stockwell has previous when it comes to this genre – and we’re not just talking Turistas. He starred in John Carpenter’s Christine, when he was but a young lad. If he can bring some of Carpenter’s chops to Sanctuary, he’ll do ok.

Lionsgate and Sobini Films are sharing the tab, and haggling over the tip on this one.

And no, we don’t count Into The Blue as a horror flick. Ha ha, very funny.
