It's been ten years since the disappointing prequel, Dumb And Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd. More importantly, it's been 19 years since Dumb And Dumber, the laxative-fuelled farce that made millions laugh uproariously (and want to buy a dog-shaped car) back in 1994. Next year comes Dumb And Dumber To, the long-awaited sequel from The Farrelly Brothers that reunites Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey with their alter egos, Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas. And if you were looking for proof that it's actually happening, check out Carrey's toothy grin above.
Tweeted via his WhoSay account, it's the closest the world's come to a still from the project, which has gone through a long period of production trouble. At one point, Carrey didn't want to be involved, then Carrey was back in, then Warner Bros. pulled out, then Red Granite stepped in.. and now everything seems to be smooth sailing, with Sean Anders, Mike Cerrone, John Morris and Bennett Yellin on scripting duties while the Farrellys concentrate on the directing side of things.
Details on the plot have not yet been confirmed, but reports suggest that the story will involve the pair looking for one of their children to find a kidney transplant donor, an idea that seems to be backed up by Kathleen Turner's casting as Fraida Felcher, the "babe who worked for the tractor company", who could well be the mother.
No official release date has been announced for** Dumb And Dumber To**, but it's been confirmed that shooting will start on September 24 (15 days away). Start eating chili peppers... now.
