Thanks to sterling work in Beast and now this, Jessie Buckley landed squarely on the BAFTA Rising Stars nomination list this year. And Wild Rose gives her the chance to really shine, with the trailer now online.

Wild Rose, directed by Tom Harper and written by Nicole Taylor, finds Buckley as Rose-Lynn Harlan, a young woman bursting with raw talent, charisma and cheek. Fresh out of jail and with two young kids, all she wants is to get out of Glasgow and make it as a country singer in Nashville. Her mum Marion (Julie Walters) has had a bellyful of Rose-Lynn’s Nashville nonsense. Forced to take responsibility, Rose-Lynn gets a cleaning job, only to find an unlikely champion in the middle-class lady of the house (Sophie Okonedo).

Wild Rose

Wild Rose, which screened at the London Film Festival last year, promises to be a highlight of the year. It'll hit cinemas in the UK on 12 April, before heading across the pond on 10 May.
