Jennifer Lopez Going Overboard

Taking Goldie Hawn's role in the remake

Jennifer Lopez is the new Goldie Hawn. Er… she is? Well, Sony seems to think so, as the studio is negotiating with her to star in the remake of the 1987 Hawn/Kurt Russell comedy Overboard.

This one has been in development for a while now, but we’re not sure we’d heard J-Lo’s name attached to the lead before (Katherine Heigl was mentioned at one point, but we guess she passed).

Still, while she’s yet to prove herself a truly natural comedienne, we’re pretty sure Lopez could pull of the role of the snooty, spoiled woman who falls off her yacht, only to be saved by a dodgy-yet-charming carpenter, who, upon learning at the hospital that she’s got amnesia, fools her into thinking she’s his wife.

Cue comedy hi-jinks as she joins him at home to help look after his four children.

Garry Marshall directed the original, but the remake doesn’t have a helmer attached just yet.
