Jaden Smith, he of the famous rapper/actor father and really cool hair, has joined the cast of the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Will Smith's boy will play a character described by The Hollywood Reporter as "the rebellious Jacob, the 8-year-old stepson of scientist Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly) who first makes contact with the humanoid alien Klaatu (Keanu Reeves)".
That puts the list of confirmed cast now at Reeves, Connelly, Smith, Kathy Bates and Jon Hamm. The Day The Earth Stood Still tells the story of an alien who comes to Earth in peace and is treated with hostility by the American military, surprisingly. Scott Derickson is currently shooting the movie in Vancouver for a 2009 release.
