Yet Tony Stark’s enormous success didn’t stop another party-loving, troubled hero from doing well despite tough odds. Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby overcame some seriously mixed reviews to launch in second place with a healthy $51 million. Pain And Gain was forced down into third place, earning $5 million, while new Craig Robinson comedy **The Peeples **(which features Tyler Perry as a producer) took home $4.8 million its first weekend in fourth. Fifth place went to Jackie Robinson biopic 42, which slipped from third for $4.6 million.
Oblivion was down to sixth, taking home $3.8 million, while The Croods fell to seventh and $3.6 million. The Big Wedding continued to shrink, sliding to eighth with $2.5 million, while Mud was down a couple of places in ninth ($2.3 million) and **Oz The Great And Powerful **rounded out the top 10 with $802,000.
