Though the cameras have already begun cranking in New Orleans, director Jean-Marc Vallee has added a few names to the cast of his new drama, The Dallas Buyers Club. The new recruits are Griffin Dunne, Denis O’Hare and Bradford Cox.

Dallas Buyers Club, written by Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack, is based on the true story of Ron Woodroof, a Texas electrician who is diagnosed with AIDS in 1986.

After discovering the prohibitive cost of regular medications, he set out to track down alternatives and took things a step further when he began smuggling the cheaper medication into the US.

His actions brought him into conflict with the American Food and Drug Administration, which was on a mission to keep the treatments out of the States.

Matthew McConaughey has lost a ton of weight to play Woodroof, with Jennifer Garner as Dr Eve Sacks, who joins Woodruff’s campaign, and Jared Leto as a cross-dresser dying of AIDS. Cox, usually found fronting alt-rockers Deerhunter, is on to play Leto’s lover.

O’Hare and Dunne are both signed to play doctors who help Woodroof in his mission. The film, which has been in development for years, is now slated to arrive in cinemas next year, though no firm release date is set yet.
