Writer/director Chris D’Arienzo already has one music-based project out in the world – he co-created the Rock Of Ages stage show and wrote the script for Adam Shankman’s film version earlier this year. Now he’s aiming at a slightly more low-key tale, snagging Glenn Close and Nick Nolte to star in Always On My Mind.

Don’t expect much stage diving or Alec Baldwin in a long wig for this one – Mind will instead be a thoughtful drama about ageing and the effects of Alzheimer’s on a rock star (Nolte).

With his best days behind him, he’s succumbing to the memory-sapping symptoms and his wife (Close) is left to pick up the pieces of his rock ‘n’ roll life. Which is no easy matter given the wild ride he’s been on.

D’Arienzo, who previously wrote and directed comedy Barry Munday, is set to pull double duty again for this one, looking to have the cameras rolling early next year.

Close was last seen in** Albert Nobbs** and is signed on to star in The Grace That Keeps This World. Nolte will next bring his gruff tones to Gangster Squad (out January 11) and Jason Statham vehicle Parker, which hits on March 8.
