And just like that… he was gone. Whether you thought the idea of Gerard Butler taking over the Bodhi role in the Point Break remake had merit or you were opposed to the whole thing on religious grounds (yes, Keanu-ism is a religion), it’s no longer an issue. Butler has dropped out{ =nofollow}.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, his departure is due to a perfect storm of issues including creative differences and scheduling challenges, with Break’s international, months-long shoot likely to impact the planned autumn start for Olympus Has Fallen sequel London Has Fallen.

So now director Ericson Core and the producers will need to find someone else willing to face the fire of stepping in to board shorts once owned by Patrick Swayze. The plan is still to kick off shooting next month on the film, which has Luke Bracey in the role of Johnny Utah, the FBI agent who infiltrates Bodhi’s bank robbing extreme sports gang, only to find his own loyalties questioned. Ray Winstone is reportedly also aboard as Utah’s partner, and the film – assuming it suffers no more setbacks – should be with us next year.[[Poll1115]]
