A few years ago, we sat down with Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar to get the lowdown on some of his other developing comics projects. Among them was Superior, which Millar told us he was putting together as a film deal even as he wrapped up work on the book. Things have been quiet on the film front since then, aside from some talk of regular Millar collaborator Matthew Vaughn producing any movie version. Cut to today, and 20th Century Fox has grabbed the rights to the title{ =nofollow}.

That Fox would land Superior isn’t much of a shock: Millar has been involved behind the scenes with the studio on various comic book properties, working alongside the likes of Simon Kinberg and Vaughn himself. Plus, the studio is bringing out another of the writer’s titles, The Secret Service, with Vaughn calling the shots and Colin Firth starring. We got a look at a scene from that film at CinemaCon a few weeks ago.

Superior, which Millar created alongside Leinil Yu, finds a popular young athlete forced from his busy social life when he’s diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. In the sort of twist that only happens in comic books, he’s approached by an alien monkey and is granted his wish to become his favourite hero, a Superman-style character called Superior. Unfortunately for him there’s a massive catch: the monkey is actually a demon and our hero will either have to sell his soul or return to his original body. The moral of the story? Never trust an alien demon monkey.

With the studio on board and Vaughn still producing, the team can now look for a writer to adapt the script. As for** The Secret Service**, that one will hit our screens on October 17.
