Though it appears Insidious** director James Wan is looking to stretch his filmmaking muscles by taking on the MacGyver adaptation, there are still plenty of dark corners he wants to explore. His latest attempt to scare the living daylights out of us all is The Conjuring, and the first two pictures have arrived courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Check them out below.

The Conjurin****g** is based on the 1970s true tale of paranormal investigators Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) Warren. They’re called in to consult by the Perron family (which includes Ron Livingston, Lily Taylor and Twilight: Breaking Dawn’s Mackenzie Foy).

See, the Perrons moved into a fixer-upper New England farmhouse, which boasts roomy bedrooms, a picturesque plot of land and a terrible curse involving a witch that the estate agent didn’t think to mention. Soon, all manner of horrors are afflicting them and the Warrens (who would go on to probe another famous real-life case, the Amityville Horror) are asked to help.

This one has been worrying the undergarments of test audiences to such a degree that it scored a better release date Stateside and will arrive both there and here on July 19.
