When brought to the screen effectively, gothic period drama can chill the bones and dazzle the sense all at the same time. Winning great reviews from its festival screenings, Gwen appears to be solidly joining those ranks, and we have an exclusive look at the trailer and poster for the film.

William McGregor wrote and directed Gwen, which stars Eleanor Worthington-Cox as the title character, a young girl who is trying desperately to hold her home together. Struggling with her mother’s (Maxine Peake) mysterious illness, her father’s absence and a ruthless mining company encroaching on their land, a growing darkness begins to take grip of her home, and the suspicious local community turns on Gwen and her family.
