Emma Watson is locking down her first film following her long stay at Hogwarts: she’s in talks to star in indie coming-of-age drama The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.

Logan Lerman, last seen in Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and who has just won the role of D’Artagnan in Paul WS Anderson’s 3D Three Musketeers, is starring as the title character, a nervy, unpopular teen who chronicles his difficulties in a series of letters to an anonymous correspondent.

Stephen Chbosky, who wrote the original novel in 1999 and has adapted the script. He’ll make his directing debut with the film, which John Malkovich’s Mr Mudd company is producing.

We’re wondering if the cinematic version will hit the same troubles as the tome, which has caused controversy with some parents thanks to frank treatment of drugs, sex and suicide…
