Woody Allen is wasting no time in finding the right actors to people his next, untitled project. Just a couple of days ago, word leaked that the secretive writer-director had hired Joaquin Phoenix for the film. The ensemble has grown by one, as Emma Stone will also appear.

Stone, of course, is now an Allen veteran, since she appears in his current film, Magic In The Moonlight. That one finds her in the middle of 1920s France, with an Englishman drafted in to uncover a possible swindle. What she’ll be up to in the new project is anyone’s guess, since we know nothing about it yet besides Phoenix’s presence and the fact that Allen will write, direct and produce as always. He’s keeping his cards close to his chest as ever, and even the location has yet to emerge. The cameras are set to roll, somewhere, in July.

The actress is currently on screen as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which had a healthy launch at the box office around the world. She has a couple of films awaiting release besides Moonlight, with roles in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s theatre comedy Birdman and Cameron Crowe’s latest, untitled comedy drama. The latter is set to arrive here on January 2015.
