Peter Berg is almost finished recruiting the cast for his latest military action drama, Lone Survivor. The latest looking to sign up is Emile Hirsch, who is in talks to play Danny Dietz.

Survivor, which Berg adapted from Marcus Luttrell’s book, follows Luttrell (who will be played by Mark Wahlberg in the film) and his Navy SEAL team who must battle to stay alive when they are ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005 by Taliban forces. As you might guess from the title, the real-life situation became a tragedy.

Battleship’s Taylor Kitsch and **Rampart’**s Ben Foster are also aboard to play troopers for the film, which is looking to get started this coming September in New Mexico. To prepare for the movie, Berg spent time embedded with a SEAL team in Iraq prior to writing the script.

Hirsch will be seen sharing the screen with Kitsch in Oliver Stone’s Savages and was last found trying to battle energy-based alien invaders in T****he Darkest Hour.
