Early Ironclad Trailer Online

Just last week we brought you the first look at James Purefoy in costume for** Ironclad, wielding a bloody (and bloody gigantic) sword. Now there's an action-packed trailer online, culled from the first couple of weeks of shooting.

Mostly what they've been working on is the siege of Rochester Castle by the nefarious King John (Paul Giamatti, though at the time this was filmed, he hadn't joined the cast yet).

This certainly whets the ol' appetite, bristling with sword play, brutal beat-downs, axe-happy warriors and Gareth from The Office in chain mail. Not to mention Kate Mara proving that the ladies can hold their own in battle.

Cinematical has the footage, which looks like it was largely put together to woo buyers and distributors, particularly as it has yet to nab a US sponsor.

In case you forgot, you can find more on the movie, including Giamatti’s views on playing a “complete bastard”, pick up the new issue of Empire, with over 30 pages of on-set reports from the hottest new movies. It’s now on sale.
