Doctor Strange Storyline Revealed?

A Doctor Strange movie has been in the pipeline over at Marvel for some time now - a Neil Gaiman / Guillermo del Toro version was mooted as long ago as 2008 - and all the prevailing wisdom now had it arriving as part of the studio's tranche of Phase 3 movies. Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed plans along those lines recently. But what will it look like? Latino Review think they know.

Back in mid-2011 there was news of a Doc Strange script turned in at Marvel by **Conan **writers Josh Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly. The prediction then was for a release circa this year. Of course, that didn't come to pass, but Feige's enthusiasm for the property, far from waning, has burned brighter and brighter in the interim.

"He represents this fantastic cosmic universe that hasn't yet seen life on screen", Feige enthused in 2001, "and I think he'd be amazing to play with". Speaking to MTV earlier this year, that buzz was still there. "He's a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he's totally different from anything else we have, just like Guardians Of The Galaxy."

Steven Strange is, of course, a Marvel icon: a more-shadowy-than-your-average superhero whose powers protect humanity from the darker realms.

Last week Marvel spread its giant beachtowel over the May 5 slots in 2016 and 2017 with a pair of mystery projects. One was mysterious because it involved a sorceror called Richard; the other because it's yet to be announced. Marvel take over Hall H at Comic-Con on July 20, so expect much more on both then, not to mention Edgar Wright's **Ant-Man.
