Clint Mansell Drops Source Code

Chris Bacon will replace him

Contrary to the reports from September, former Poppie Clint Mansell will sadly now not be scoring Source Code) for a repeat of his Moon collaboration with Duncan Jones.

Devin Faraci picked up the news from Jones himself that poor timing had scuppered the plan, and the director later confirmed via his Twitter account that "We weren't able to work out a schedule so Clint could do the score in the end. He has been a very busy bee."

Replacing Mansell will be Chris Bacon, who only recently seems to have branched out into his own score-making with Love Ranch and Alpha & Omega, but has worked on the music for any number of high-profile past projects, including King Kong and The Dark Knight. He is, says Jones, "a very talented young guy... who was recommended to me by my editor, the legendary Paul Hirsch."

Does this mean that Mansell has decamped back to his first film love Darren Aronofsky to start work on The Wolverine? "Darren and I need to agree to some kind of divorce settlement to see which of us gets Clint on weekends," quips Jones.

Source Code is out on April 15 next year.
