Jesse Plemons Up For Star Wars Episode VII

After winning attention for the sweet-natured but troubled Landry on the TV version of **Friday Night Lights **and the sweetly psychopathic Todd on Breaking Bad, Jesse Plemons could be on the verge of his biggest role yet. According to The Wrap, he’s a serious contender for a lead in **Star Wars: Episode VII.

As the report is quick to point out, no official casting has been announced for the film, and Plemons has made no deal yet. In fact, he’s still at the auditioning stage, though he seems to quickly have becoming a front-runner, headed for a meeting with writer/producer/director J.J. Abrams next week to talk about the role after a successful first look on tape. Nothing has been released (there’s a surprise!) about a potential role, but given his history on film and TV he’d be convincing on both sides of the Force.

Abrams has been scouring the world for his Star Wars cast, testing a wide selection of known names (leading to any number of rumours) and holding open auditions in the hope of landing the right people. At work on the script with Lawrence Kasdan (due at Disney HQ any moment), Abrams is gearing up to start shooting Episode VII in the UK and LA in the next couple of months, with that December 18, 2015 release date coming up quickly.

Plemons is enjoying acclaim for his role as the Nazi meth cook Todd in Breaking Bad and has a couple of films due this year including Stephen Frears’ still untitled Lance Armstrong drama and Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman. Would the erstwhile "Meth Damon" be a good fit for the Star Wars universe? Let us know below.
