Doesn’t Bradley Cooper have enough to be getting on with? It was just yesterday that Warner Bros. began tempting him with the lead role in murder mystery The Man From Primrose Lane, now The Weinstein Company is dangling a reunion with The Place Beyond The Pines director Derek Cianfrance for cooking comedy Chef.
With a script from Eastern Promise****s’ Steven Knight, Chef (just a working title for now) would find Cooper as a disgraced kitchen boss who loses his Michelin star-rated restaurant in Paris. But instead of crying into his consommé, he decides to gather his crew back together and create an even better restaurant in London.
Omar Sy, who made a splash this year with The Intouchables, is also negotiating to sign on, which would make Chef his English language debut.
"We've been talking about this project. I want to do it. It's a beautiful story. And I love cooking," Cooper told RTL (via Variety) in fluent French (the bloody show off).
Cooper apparently plans to take a break after shooting David O. Russell’s next film alongside Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, so we’ll have to wait for the cookery comedy. Still, it’s not like he doesn’t have on-screen culinary experience, even if his last gig was the short-lived Kitchen Confidential sitcom based on Anthony Bourdain’s book. It may not have lasted long, but it’s still mourned in some parts of** Empire**’s hive-brain…
