Navy SEALs. Right now, especially for filmmakers, they are as trendy as young adult book franchises. So you can’t blame Bradley Cooper for wanting to take a chunk of that sweet SEAL movie action for himself. He’s busy setting up the first project for his production company, and it just so happens to be an adaptation of former SEAL Chris Kyle’s autobiography, American Sniper.

Kyle’s book, which bears the subtitle The Autobiography Of The Most Lethal Sniper In US Military History, finds the Texas-born shooting notching the highest recorded number of kills for an American. But his dedication to his sights and his SEAL mates has an impact on his relationship with his wife.

If he likes what he sees when he reads Jason Dean Hall’s script, Cooper will most likely take on the lead role.

He’ll next be seen in The Words, followed by The Place Beyond The Pines and Silver Linings Playbook**, which showed off some footage in Cannes. He’s set to film The Hangover Part 3 this autumn and is also circling a role in Woody Allen’s latest, untitled movie.
