It's Revenge Of The Nerds... Pixar style

Billy Crystal Talks Monsters University

We’ve already had a glimpse at the wacky, college-set goings-on promised by Pixar’s latest sequel, Monsters University. But the company has, as usual, been fairly quiet on the plot. Now Entertainment Weekly has gotten Billy Crystal – the wisecracking voice behind cycloptic beastie Mike Wazowski – to open up just a little on the story.

While the trailer showed off life in the dorms, and the fact that Mike and future BFF Sulley (John Goodman) didn’t exactly start out the best of friends, Crystal has spilled some info about what will happen in the movie. Don’t read the next paragraph if you’re looking to stay entirely spoiler-free, but there are only minor details to be found.

“Mike and Sulley end up in the same fraternity where they have this scare competition — like Greek Games in college,” says Crystal. “They have to mobilize a group, sort of like Revenge Of The Nerds-monsters, and get them ready to be scary.”

According to Crystal, the duo are still very much freshmen in the film – around 17 / 18. So don’t expect much crazy, drunken behaviour…

With Dan Scanlon directing, Monsters University is due out here on July 12, 2013. Check out that first trailer below.
